SUMMARY:Food for Thought: Chefs for Kids Online Auction
DESCRIPTION:It’s a brand new FUNdraiser in a not so fun year\, but with your help we can mix it up! \nOur mission is to alleviate malnutrition and hunger through education and awareness. We fund programs that feed children and provide them with the knowledge to pick a better snack. Nutrition education is at our core. \nWe know it’s been a tough year. Although some of our programs have been postponed\, and some switched to a virtual format\, we need the support more than ever. \nIn March and again in October\, our major fundraiser Chefs for Kids 29th Dinner and Auction was postponed. Most recently\, our golf tournament had to be rescheduled as well. We marched into action and created Food for Thought\, the auction will open October 31 through 9 p.m. PST on November 11. \nNow here is a recap on how we are delivering on our mission in 2020/21:\n\nSupporting teachers who educate nearly 3\,000 third grade Title One students at 14 schools via virtual 40 minute sessions once a month. In October they learned about leafy greens\, and in November the rainbow of cauliflower.\nProviding more than 70 families this December with toiletries\, food gift certificates and a few toys for the children. Due to COVID-19\, families are in need more than ever. We are currently working with educators and the school counselors to identify the families in need.\nLent support to the Chefs4Vegas initiative with volunteers and more that helped bring fresh produce and pantry staples to more than 6\,000 families since COVID-19 began.\n\nSince regulations kept students physically from attending classes\, our program Cookin’ Up Breakfast has been postponed until next school year. When this program is active\, we feed 10\,000 children a warm breakfast. As well\, our surprising residents of The Shade Tree Shelter twice a year with a fabulous meal will resume when it’s safe. \nThank you in advance for supporting our mission. Stay safe. Stay healthy.
