Back to School at Myrtle Tate ES
September 26, 2024
September had us officially back to school, and back in the cafeteria Cookin’ Up Breakfast for our friends at Myrtle Tate ES. Our first official breakfast of the year went off without a hitch. We loved seeing the excited looks on our little friends’ faces as they entered the room. Many of the kids remembered us from last year and what a good time they had, so the energy level in the room was off the charts with excitement for the meal to come!
The menu was expertly prepared by the chefs at South Point Hotel, Casino & Spa and included a Cheese Omelet, Bacon, Breakfast Potatoes, a Mini-Blueberry Muffin, and a Red Apple. Our friends at Hospitality Culinaire, Inc. were also on-site handing out samples of their strawberry and banana smoothies. Overall the kids loved the smoothies and bacon best!
A big shout out to all the volunteers who came out to help serve the food. We even had a few new hands on deck including staff from Pacific Seafood and Hormel Foods. Maritza Gomez, HR Manager at Pacific Seafood said their staff enjoyed volunteering at the breakfast. “The overall experience was wonderful. It’s those little things that always matter to let the kids know that we care about them.”
We’re always excited to welcome new volunteers into our village. If you or your team would like to join our list of amazing, dedicated volunteers, email us at donations@chefsforkids.org.
And thanks to community partners like Fontainebleau we’re able to produce Cookin’ Up Breakfast and other healthy eating initiatives like our Farmers Markets, Produce Picasso, Holiday Helpings, and, of course, Nutrition Education.
