Battle of the Breakfasts
June 10, 2025

They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day—and they’re absolutely right! A healthy morning meal jumpstarts the brain, fuels the body, and sets the tone for a focused and energized day. But let’s face it: for busy families racing to get out the door, breakfast can easily fall by the wayside. That’s where grab-and-go options come to the rescue.
With so many pre-packaged breakfast items lining grocery store shelves—granola bars, biscuits, smoothies—how do you know which one is actually tasty and satisfying? We decided to find out the fun way: by putting breakfast to the ultimate test—a 4th grade taste test showdown!
The Breakfast Bunch: Meet Our Panel of Pros
We recruited a group of six enthusiastic 4th grade students with hungry tummies and sharp taste buds. Their mission? Sample a selection of popular on-the-go breakfast items in a blind taste test and help crown the true breakfast champion—the one that would be shared with their entire school!

Taste Test Time!
The panel sampled six different breakfast contenders, ranging from chewy granola bars to fluffy biscuits and even a fruity smoothie. Each student scored the items based on:
- First Impressions
- Appearance
- Smell/Aroma
- Texture
- Taste
And of course, they were encouraged to jot down their own thoughts, reactions, and foodie critiques. (Spoiler alert: kids take their breakfast opinions very seriously!)

And the Winner Is…
🥁 Nature Valley’s Crunchy Oats & Honey Bars! 🥇
After much thoughtful nibbling and note-taking, the crunchy classic took the crown!

A Tasty Surprise for the Whole School
To celebrate the winning choice, we returned to the school and handed out a Nature Valley granola bar to every student—delivered in fun, educational coloring envelopes to make the moment even more special.
Because when kids have a say in what they eat—and it actually tastes good—breakfast becomes a whole lot more exciting.
So next time you’re dashing out the door, consider this kid-approved pick. After all, a good breakfast doesn’t just fuel your day—it might just brighten it, too!
