Go Go Morning Magic

The energy was high and the griddles were hot at our latest Cookin’ Up Breakfast and this one was a true team effort.

We were thrilled to welcome a new culinary partner to the Chefs for Kids family at our latest Cookin’ Up Breakfast and they made quite the debut. Our friends at Hash House A Go Go joined us for the first time and cooked up a hearty breakfast spread that had students smiling from ear to ear: a delicious breakfast sandwich, crispy hash browns, fresh apple slices and a blueberry muffin. It was a well-balanced meal designed to fuel growing bodies and power bright minds through a full day of learning and we are so grateful to have them step up to the plate for local kids.

But this morning wasn’t just about great food, it was about community.

From touchdowns to breakfast duty, the incredible team from UNLV Rebels football showed up in a big way. Players, coaches and their culinary crew rolled up their sleeves, served trays, greeted students and brought contagious energy to the cafeteria. Watching these student-athletes connect with younger students was a powerful reminder that role models don’t just show up on game day, they show up for their community.

Of course, it wouldn’t be Cookin’ Up Breakfast without our longtime partners at Jamba Juice, who were on-site blending their crowd-favorite strawberry and banana smoothies. One student could be overheard excitedly telling a staff member, “Mr. Denning, we got a smoothie!!!” That simple burst of joy says everything. For many kids, these breakfasts are more than a meal, they’re a moment they’ll remember.

Adding to the excitement, Chef Chris Johns came out of recent retirement, donned his chef’s coat once again and jumped in to help serve this special breakfast. His willingness to return to the kitchen for our students speaks volumes about the heart behind this program.

We were also excited to welcome a new volunteer who previously served as a teacher at Griffith Elementary School. What a meaningful full-circle moment that highlights the lasting bonds within our school communities.

At Chefs for Kids, Cookin’ Up Breakfast is about more than filling plates. It’s about fueling futures, building connections and showing students that an entire community believes in them one breakfast at a time. Are you a restaurant or culinary team ready to make a difference? We’re always looking for chefs and hospitality partners willing to step up to the plate and sponsor or cook up a breakfast for local students. If you’re interested in getting involved, email us for more details and let’s start cookin’.
