Having a SUPER Time at Rex Bell

This has been a busy week for Chefs for Kids volunteers! Earlier in the week we prepped and delivered 120 bags of fresh produce and a $50 grocery gift card to families in need for Spring Break. On Thursday, we visited our friends at Rex Bell ES to kick-off National Nutrition Month with another Cookin’ Up Breakfast event. Many of our friends joined us for what was a SUPER time!

The culinary team at Mandalay Bay and Luxor Las Vegas cooked up a cool twist on corn dogs with sausage and pancakes “on a stick,” accompanied by mini cheesy egg bites, hash browns, a fruit skewer, and a scratch-made blueberry poptart in the school’s blue color. Our friends at Hospitality Culinaire, Inc. also served up their strawberry banana Jamba Juice smoothies that left many kids asking for more!

We had several special guests including Jolene from Brady Industries, who donates many of the utensils, plates, etc, we use at each breakfast; Lupe and Jorge, owners of Dos Caras Tequila, who sponsors our Dinner & Auction; Katherine Rosenberger, Miss United States of America’s Miss Downtown Las Vegas, who serves on our Dinner & Auction committee; Commissioner Tick Segerblom; and Senator Rochelle Nguyen. We love seeing such an amazing group of people dedicated to the same cause come together and help combat childhood malnutrition and hunger!

We also want to give a shout out to Guy Fieri Foundation who partially underwrote this year’s Cookin’ Up Breakfast program. Whether in-person, in-kind, or through a financial donation, every bit of support helps us get one step closer to achieving our mission!
