Thank You Cox Charities

October 11, 2021

Cox Charities, the philanthropic arm of Cox Las Vegas, recently presented $160,000 in grants to 38 local nonprofit organizations.

Chefs for Kids received support for its Healthy Eating Program. One of the highlights is when the students taste a fruit or vegetable they are learning about during the Produce Pick of the Month classes.

“Our goal is a behavioral change – encouraging kids to TRY new fruits and vegetables,” said instructor Crystal Momii.

Since inception, 30 years ago, Chefs for Kids has provided Clark County Title I schools with programs that have fed and taught more than 200,000 children about healthy food options, nutrition education, and the importance of physical exercise. With strategic partnering, the Healthy Eating Program beneficiaries are directly impacted with the knowledge and application of the relationship with food and fueling their bodies. The program is delivered to 12 Title I elementary schools targeting third grade classes by nutrition educators via the University of Nevada Reno’s Extension.

Cox Charities is funded primarily by Cox employee contributions through a workplace giving campaign and a variety of fundraisers including an annual golf tournament. Each grant is reviewed and selected by employees. Cox Charities’ fiscal partner is the Nevada Community Foundation.

“Through the generosity of our Cox Las Vegas employees, Cox Charities support nonprofits in our community with Cox Charities grants,” said Cox Las Vegas Vice President and Market Leader Michael F. Bolognini. “We’re immensely proud to be able to continue to give back and support these organizations and the important work each does.”

Thank you to the Cox Communications family for believing in and supporting our mission.
