It Takes a Village

October 18, 2022

Cliche, but true. It takes a village, and this was very evident at our latest Cookin’ Up Breakfast event. Many hands were on-deck to serve up a tasty morning treat for the students and staff at Robert L. Taylor Elementary School. Emerald Island and Rainbow Club’s Culinary Director Scott Pajak for cooking up a delicious breakfast including scrambled eggs, turkey sausage patties, hash brown potatoes and fruit, as well as assorted juices, milk and water. Our ACF Chefs John Rees and Richard Cino were also on-hand to help cook as well as drive the CHEFmobile to deliver the food. Serving up the food was our friends at Levi Strauss & Co. and  CCSD Trustee Lisa Guzman. As always, Hospitality Culinaire Inc. was also on-site serving up Jamba Juice smoothies.

“Chefs for Kids is extremely grateful to Chef Scott Pajak and the entire team at Emerald Island and Rainbow Club Casinos for cooking up this delicious breakfast,” said Hekili Apao, Chairman at Chefs for Kids. “As the saying goes, it takes a village, and we couldn’t do our important work without them and the many other community organizations that support our program.”

While we’re grateful for all the people in our village supporting our children, there’s a lot more work to be done, and we could use a few more hands on deck. Join our community by sponsoring a breakfast today. We have two wonderful opportunities to get involved:

  • Culinary Sponsor – If you have a restaurant or culinary team and are willing to donate food cost and prepare a breakfast for one of our schools – we want to talk to you! We can work with any budget as some schools have as few as 400 students to 1,000 students. We’ll help find the right opportunity for you. We have a few opportunities left in the 2022-2023 school year, so sign up fast – or look forward to next school year!
  • Volunteer Sponsor – If your company is looking for a fun hands-on philanthropic activity, this opportunity is for you! Sponsor a breakfast with a $2,500 donation and gather your employees to come serve up a tasty breakfast at one of our schools. The smiles on the kids faces will be the best reward of all.

All sponsors receive mentions on our social media, blog, e-newsletter and press releases. Interested in either opportunity?  Please talk to us today by emailing donations@chefsforkids.org

Take it from Chef Pajak… the reward is worth the effort, “There’s nothing better than this. It doesn’t matter what time you gotta get up. It’s fun.”
