“The Best Chefs for Kids Breakfast Ever”
March 2, 2025

On Feb. 27 we were happy to welcome back our friends at Boyd Gaming to the Cookin’ Up Breakfast initiative. Chefs from their multiple properties such as The Orleans, The Fremont, and Gold Coast, cooked up Sausage and Egg sandwiches with Hashbrown complemented by a Fruit Cup and Capri Sun. And their breakfast got rave reviews from the kids. A couple of fourth grade students said “This is the best Chefs for Kids breakfast ever”, and they would know because we’ve been visiting this school their entire school lives thus far.

This program is more than just a food insecurity initiative. Yes, it’s great to put food in the students’ bellies, but the excitement and novelty of this event always spurs new conversations and learning opportunities. For some, it’s learning about and trying a particular fruit, vegetable, or recipe for the first time, for others it sparks conversation like “maybe I could be a chef one day.” At this particular breakfast, teachers were using the triangular shape of the hashbrowns to teach older students about types of triangles. Can you identify what type of triangle this is?

If you guess isosceles you would be right! While we tell students hashbrowns are “sometimes foods”, we’ll never miss out on the chance to use one as a learning opportunity!
So let’s get back to what exactly made this the “Best Breakfast Ever”? Aside from the delicious food the kids got to taste, we’d like to think it was also because they were surrounded by so many amazing people who showed they care about them. From the Boyd Gaming Chefs, to our friends at Las Vegas Rotary Club, to CSN culinary students, and of course our ACF Chefs Las Vegas volunteers, everyone came together to make this a magical experience for the kiddos.

From the chefs who cook our breakfasts, to the people who fund our programs like the Las Vegas Rotary Club, and every volunteer in between, we are grateful for our village of supporters who continue to come together to support our students. If you’d like to volunteer, donate, or otherwise support our programming, reach out to us to get the conversation started! We hope you can see our program in action for yourself one day.
